If you have any enquires about having an item made please do get in touch. This could include rough price enquiries, full costing for your dream garment or just asking if something is possible.
Please provide as much information as possible when making enquiries, including pictures/links and other references. This will give us a good basis for discussion to work out a design which fulfils your requirements. If you do commission an item it will also keep prices down for you as substantial research will reflect in the quoted price. Your preferred fabrics or desired fabric characteristics are also important to have clear at the design stage, and please let me know any deadline by which you would want/need the garment.
Rough guide to the commission process:
Initial enquiry - first contact and discussion of ideas.
Research and sketching - based on our discussions and looking at any options which need to be decided upon. Sketches or links may be sent to you for feedback as part of the design stage. You may be asked for some basic measurements to determine materials requirements.
Finalising - once the main design is complete, we will decide details such as: fabrics and colours; trims and linings; fastenings, etc. Samples will be sent if required or in some cases your own fabric may be used*.
Quotation - I will work out a quote which reflects materials costs and estimated design and construction time. If you decide to go ahead you will be asked to pay a deposit which covers the materials cost, the remainder to be paid on delivery.
Measurements - ideally measurements will be taken in person, or when this is not possible detailed instructions will be given. Measuring guides to follow - watch this space.
Pattern drafting - I will make a unique pattern for your design and measurements. For some more complex garments it may be advisable to have a test fitting in order to make adjustments before cutting the final cloth.
Construction
Fitting - wherever possible I like to conduct a fitting before the finishing touches are done in order to catch any problems.

* - If you have fabric already, I will need to know the exact quantity and proportions. If you have a fabric in mind, please wait until advised of the required quantity before purchasing, to avoid disappointment.
